EU Immigration and Citizenship

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the European Union (EU) has a set of immigration and citizenship laws that apply to its member states. However, it’s important to note that EU laws are subject to change, and new developments may have occurred since then. Additionally, individual EU member states may have their own specific immigration and citizenship regulations.

Free Movement of Persons:

  • The cornerstone principle is the free movement of persons among EU member states. EU citizens have the right to live and work in any other EU member state without needing a work permit.
  • Residence Rights for EU Citizens:

  • EU citizens have the right to reside in another member state for up to three months without any conditions. After three months, certain conditions related to employment or self-sufficiency may apply.
